10 Things to do with Spotify: The monthly list

So what’s the Monthly List? Well, it’s simply a collection of the highlights of your listening for any particular month of the year. The way it works is this…Say in the course of a month you listened to, among others, the Byrds’ Ballad of Easy Rider album and the Cars’ awesome Panorama album. Then of course you’re going to put Gunga Din and Tulsa County from the Byrds album onto your playlist, and geez, maybe everything from the Cars album – certainly all of ‘side two’ plus Touch and Go and Gimme Some Slack, natch. What you’ll end up with is a kind of musical diary you can revisit any time you like simply to say – this is what I was into that month. It’s also a great way to remind yourself of the great tracks on your albums or in your collection, the ones that made an impact.

Anyway, here’s one of the months on my Monthly List…

May 2016

By the way, it’s a good idea, once you’ve got your list, to sequence the tracks into some kind of logical progression – say, chronological, or genre specific, etc. Or, what the hell, go completely random and hit that ‘randomize’ button for all it’s worth!
